JOHNNY GIACALONE is a proud member of Ensemble Studio Theater where he has appeared in What I Meant Was (Marathon ’97), Summer Cyclone, Welcome Home Buddy Combs, FZZN GRRL, several rounds of Asking for Trouble, hundreds of workshops, countless readings and a bunch of presentations. Johnny has performed on stage at theaters across the country including standouts Manhattan Theater Club, The Public’s New York Shakespeare Festival, The McCarter, The Mark Taper Forum, Portland Stage, and Hartford Stage. Johnny has written for and appeared in improv and sketch comedy at such venues as UCB, IO West and Second City. Johnny was a season-long recurring performer on SONY Playstation’s television series “Powers.” Other TV & Film highlights include: “FBI,” “American Crime Story: Impeachment,” “The Accountant,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Legends,” “Ironside,” “Soul Man,” “iCarly” and “Law & Order.”
Johnny co-wrote, co-produced and co-starred in the independent comedy feature, “30 Nights of Sex to Save Your Marriage.” 30 Nights was acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films for streaming on Amazon Prime. The film has received 60 points of distribution (streaming, VOD, DVD) in 14 countries. Johnny also wrote and produced numerous award-winning short films including; “30 Nights” (inspired the feature), “Sleeping Dogs Lie” (LA Comedy Festival), “STATIC” ( 9 “Official Selections” including Screamfest and Horrorfest) and “Gillian, Faithfully.” He is the author of several screenplays including “Blood of the Mob” (Filmquest Finalist, Austin Film Festival Semi- Finalist), “86’d, the teleplay Chapel of Love” (Big Apple Film Festival Semi-Finalist) and the co-author of the Gotham International Screenplay Competition Winner for Best Comedy Feature, “The Saturday Night Club.” Johnny attended Vassar College, The National Theater Institute and Improv Olympics West.
