Janet Zarish As an actress, she has performed in New York starring in such productions as Other People’s Money at the Minetta Lane Theatre, The Square at The Public Theatre, The Glass House at The Harold Clurman, and Miss Julie and An Enemy of the People at The Roundabout Theatre. She’s originated roles in new plays, working with such writers as Will Arbery, Tony Kushner, David Mamet, Emily Mann, Wendy Wasserstein, Shel Silverstein and Terrance McNally. Regional credits include leading roles at The Longwharf Theatre, The McCarter Theatre, Sundance Theatre Festival, The Shakespeare Theatre, Yale Rep, Harford Stage, Seattle Rep, The Old Globe, New York Stage & Film and The Humana Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Film credits include Brooklyn To Manhattan, The Next Big Thing, Object of My Affection, Malcolm X, Danny, Mystic Pizza, Without a Trace, and The Zoo. Television guest stars include Blue Bloods, Forever, Law and Order, Seinfeld, Homicide and Mad About You. She’s directed over 30 plays, including Measure For Measure Off-Broadway at The Duke, Angel’s In America, A Bright Room Called Day (alongside Tony Kushner), A Doll’s House Part 2, Major Barbara, Cloud Nine, 100 Saints You Should Know and 9 of Shakespeare’s plays. Janet is Head of Acting at NYU Tisch School of The Arts Graduate Acting Program where she teaches and directs. She has been a member of EST since 1984.
