Alfredo Narciso

Where are you from and where do you reside now?
Originally, I’m from Wisconsin. Born in Milwaukee, raised in Eau Claire and currently living in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC.

What is your artistic discipline?
I’m an actor who dabbles in directing.

When did you become a Member?
Not totally sure. Late aughts? Early teens? I think I’m a Twenty First century tweener…

What is one of your favorite EST Memories?
Back when EST used to do a Summer theater getaway in Southampton (at The Southampton Writer’s Conference which was on the Stony Brook campus), I remember Megan Tusing, the late, great Scott Sowers and, I believe, Vern Thiessen were on a stealth mission to gain entry to the campus windmill - replete with whispered commands and army crawls. Focused people with intense imagination and a glorious sense of adventure/humor. To this day, I still don’t know if they got into that windmill or not. And you know what? I don’t need to know. It will forever remain, in my mind, the Schrodinger’s Cat of theater retreat stories.

What is influencing or inspiring your artistry right now?
Nostalgia. And any good music I’ve ever listened to; it contains memories just waiting to be taken out for a walk.

Who are your artistic influences?
Too many people to shout out here. Anyone I’ve ever met, for better or worse, has shaped my experience. And the lessons I’ve learned from each of those interactions have influenced how I approach my work (and life). Every person is so surprising and contains multitudes.

What was the best play/film/TV you watched recently?
Stereophonic. Incredible. Also, been watching Slow Horses on Apple. Fun TV show.

What advice do you have for emerging theatermakers that you wish you knew?
Don’t forget to live life. Whatever that means to you. A life in the theater will exhaust you. Life itself will re-invigorate and inspire you.

What are you working on now?
I’ve been filming a new Amazon Prime series up in Montreal. And about to do a remount of The Merchant of Venice, a co-pro I did with TFANA/Shakespeare Theater of DC, at the Royal Lyceum Theater in Edinburgh, Scotland this Winter.

How can people connect with you?
