Accessibility at EST

The Ensemble Studio Theatre strives to make our art and facilities accessible to all staff, audiences, artists, and visitors. While EST’s physical facilities are not ADA compliant, we are committed to providing reasonable accommodations for patrons with accessibility needs. As an organization we are taking concrete steps to increase the accessibility of our physical spaces, our performances, and our digital presence. And, as we prepare to build a new home on our building’s first-floor we are working closely with architects to ensure the space is accessible to all members of our community.

Elevator Access

The first entrance, marked 545 (closer to 10th avenue), is the entrance for the freight elevator. There is a phone number to call the operator, who will pick you up and take you to the second floor where EST is located. There is a small movable ramp for the lip at that entrance.

EST is also accessible by two flights of stairs leading to the second floor at the 549 entrance, closer to 11th avenue. There is a step off of the sidewalk leading to the door.

Restrooms

The bathrooms at EST are located on the second floor of the building, adjacent to the main theatre. They are not floor-level and require going up two single steps to enter.

Wheelchair Seating & Accessibility

If you are using a wheelchair, you can use the freight elevator to get to the second floor, and should be able to navigate much of EST's space (except the bathrooms and some narrow backstage areas).

There are two wheelchair seating locations in the front row of EST’s theater, with companion seats available directly behind or next to those locations. If you would like to watch the performance from one of those locations, please speak to the House Manager in the lobby prior to the performance, or email boxoffice@estnyc.org.

Service Animals

EST welcomes patrons with service animals. If possible, please let us know in advance if you plan to bring a service animal by emailing boxoffice@estnyc.org.

Questions?

If you have any questions about specific accessibility needs in our space, please feel free to email our Audience Services Manager at sembler@estnyc.org. We look forward to seeing you at the theatre!
