Tim Pinckney started writing his first play after ten years as a working actor. That play, Message to Michael, was produced by Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre in New York City. The play has enjoyed several subsequent regional productions and a scene from Message to Michael is featured in The Best Stage Scenes of 1998, published by Smith and Kraus. His other plays include A Perfect Blendship, First Refusal, Ever So Humble and To Get to the Other Side. Tim adapted On the Twentieth Century for The Actors’ Fund’s fall benefit concert, which starred Marin Mazzie, Douglas Sills and Christopher Sieber. Other concert adaptations include HAIR starring Raúl Esparza and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, and Chess starring Josh Groban and Julia Murney. Tim also adapted the classic Funny Girl for the concert stage to accommodate 16 different Fanny Brices – including Whoopi Goldberg, Bebe Neuwirth, Sutton Foster, Kristin Chenoweth and Jane Krakowski. Tim’s liner notes can be found in the triple platinum Special Limited Edition CD/DVD soundtrack recording of the 2003 Oscar®-winning motion picture Chicago. He is the recipient of a grant from The Anna Sosenko Assist Trust as well as a fellowship for playwriting from The Diogenes Foundation.
