Susan J. Vitucci is best known as librettist, director, puppet designer, and performer of the acclaimed operetta Love’s Fowl, with original music by Henry Krieger (New York Theatre Workshop), starring the puppet La Pulcina Piccola, which has toured nationally. She has been featured on public radio’s This American Life and her puppets were nominated for a Hewes Design Award. Works in development include Small Fish, a new puppet operetta with music by Henry Krieger, as well as the plays Flag Day, Fortress of Solitude, and A Kiss on the Hand (EST March Madness 2007 festival). Among website content credits is the serialized apocryphal, but true, Secret Diaries of La Pulcina Piccola. Susan also teaches her Junk Drawer Drama Workshop in object theatre at colleges and high schools across the country. Susan writes, produces and directs special events. She also provides corporate communications and strategic planning services to non-profits and small businesses. She recently general managed the Off Broadway production of Fathers & Sons (Lion Theatre). Susan is on the 52nd Street Project’s advisory board and edited 52 Pick-up: A Guide to Making Theater with Children by Willie Reale. She has been contributing editor to numerous publications including the forthcoming Image Maker’s Halloween Look Book. A member of the Dramatists Guild and a New York Theatre Workshop Usual Suspect, Susan also has been a MacDowell Colony Fellow and holds an MFA from the Yale School of Drama.
