The Ensemble Studio Theatre

Youngblood is Ensemble Studio Theatre’s collective of emerging professional playwrights under the age of 30.

For the past 19 years, the EST Playwrights Unit has been meeting every Monday night, providing a safe and supportive haven for professional playwrights to read and critique their new plays.

The Ensemble Studio Theatre/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Science & Technology Project is an initiative designed to stimulate artists to create credible and compelling work exploring the worlds of science and technology and to challenge the existing stereotypes of scientists and engineers in the popular imagination.

Going to the River (GTTR) was founded in 1999 at the Ensemble Studio Theatre by the late Curt Dempster and Elizabeth Van Dyke.

EST’s flagship festival of new one-act plays, the Marathon has played annually at EST for over 30 years.

Designed to add a step in the new play development process between a staged reading and a full production, EST’s “RoughCut Productions” are fully-rehearsed, minimally-produced performances of new plays written by and featuring EST member artists.

New York Theatre Intensives is an opportunity for aspiring actors, playwrights and directors to study the art of new play collaboration in association with the artists of Ensemble Studio Theatre.

Ensemble Studio Theatre is the resident theater company of Southampton Arts. Member actors and directors complement the experience by applying their talent to a wide variety of workshops, electives, panel discussion, evening readings, and after-hour events in this month-long conference.
